Everah Hosting servers down — July 14, 2007
Filed under: Announcements — Administrator @ 5:57 pm
At about 4:30PM today (July 14, 2007) we were informed that several sites hosted on the EVERAHHOSTING.NET name servers were not responding. We later determined that our servers were under a Denial of Service attack. Our network technicians are working on the situation and will have all servers restored as soon as possible.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused.

Exciting project at DevNetwork — June 29, 2006
Filed under: General, Projects, Announcements — Administrator @ 11:14 am
Sometimes it is funny the way things happen. A few days after beginning work on the PHPBeginner.net concept d11wtq (also known as Chris Corbyn) posted on the PHP Developers Network Forums his thoughts on the creation of a PHP book that would be designed around anyone wanting to get into PHP development. Thinking this was a great idea, I chimed in on the thread and PM’ed him on my idea as well as my desire to help the book idea.
Well, this idea has taken off considerably and is now in the end stages of discussion moving on to the next stage of concept and layout. We are also getting a little more exposure thanks to Maugrim_The_Reaper (also known as Padraic Brady) and his blog entry about the book idea. Cal Evans, an editor at the Zend Developer Zone board picked up the story and posted about it. And so the idea seems to be taking off.
I can only say that I am more than thrilled about the idea of contrinuting in some way to the development of a teaching tool for PHP. The talent that visits the DevNetwork forums is insanely rich and the concepts thrown out, from entry level to Theory and Design, are amazing. I can’t wait to see how this thing pans out. I also can’t wait to get started.
New Everah Project - PHPBeginner.net — June 24, 2006
Filed under: General, Everah Sites, Everah Products — Administrator @ 8:21 am
Over the past year or so we have noticed an abundance of new PHP developers cropping. And with all new developers come questions about the PHP language. So our newest project hopes to shed some light on the basics of PHP to help out new developers learn their way around the language.
This new website, located at www.phpbeginner.net, will contain various references, tutorials, explanations and other information to help the new PHP developer or novice programmer get around successfully in PHP development. This project is in the earliest stage right now, but we hope to launch something soon.
Please check back for more information on this exciting project.
Cranky Compliance — June 1, 2006
Filed under: General, Announcements, Compliance — Administrator @ 10:56 am
So it has come to our attention that some of the postings that hit our news reel are not w3c compliant. This came about in a recent thread posted at the PHP Developers Network Forums.
Well, we are happy to say that we are now back incompliance having fixed some markup issues with the postings that were here before. A big thank you goes to jayshields for pointing our errors.
Update on Our New Theme — May 12, 2006
Filed under: General, Everah Sites, Announcements, Everah.com — Administrator @ 4:22 pm
In case you haven’t yet noticed, most of the links related to our web site are not active. No, this is not a mistake or bad development or an oversight. Yes, we did mean to do this.
As part of the testing of our theme we wanted to get it up on the site. We also need to make sure our site code works with the theme. So in essence, we are utilizing our own services to optimize and standardize our design and development. So while our news section is up and running, the rest of our site is still be recoded.
Our current site still runs as it did, but we are trying to break out of that mold for now.
We apologize for any inconvenience our updating may be causing you. We are sure that you will like what come of it, though. Have a great weekend and be sure to check us out again.
Working out the kinks — May 11, 2006
Filed under: General, Everah Sites, Announcements, Everah.com — Administrator @ 10:22 am
OK, our new theme is now, for real, ready to be used… for testing and review. The reason for this is that while the theme is being tested we are redesigning the core code of the site. It is getting cleaner, more efficient, easier to manage and more modular. From a development perspective, this is one sweet project.
However, from a user perspective, this may get a little frustrating. Most notably, because most of the links in the theme don’t work (except the News related links). Outside from that though, we think this theme is a keeper.
Anyhow, until things are more developed, keep checking out this theme. Eventually it will be rolled out throughout our website.
Our new theme is now live —
Filed under: General, Everah Sites, Announcements, Everah.com — Administrator @ 12:39 am
Our new web site theme is now live on our blog. Titled ‘Everahhh’, this theme has been a progressive work for a while now. We are still updating it with link urls and such, but the blog itself is running just fine.
When you can, if you would, please leave us a comment on what you think of the theme. We are shooting for XHTML strict compliance, which, with the exception of a few blog posts, we have. Hey, when it comes to generated content, I guess you can’t have everything. Oh wait, when you are the developer of your own system, then I guess you can.
Anyhow, please take a look around the blog and tell us what you think. We hope you like it.

Maugrim makes some very good points — April 21, 2006
Filed under: General, Web Develpoment, PHP — Administrator @ 12:40 pm
I was reading through Maugrim the Reaper’s blog today and ran across a post he made about Programming being a language. Titled Programming is a language - use it correctly, Maugrim delves into the aspects of proper grammatical structure and language usage for PHP as a programming language.
I like the points he makes in his post because of the sheer common sense of the ideas he’s presenting. Having worked on several projects that involved recoding and optimizing, I can honestly say that I have thought the very things he mentioned on several different ocassions.
For anyone that is thinking of learning a development language (PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, Javascript, etc), I would recommend that you read over Maugrim’s post. It can certainly point you in the right direction.
Moving into hosting — February 7, 2006
Filed under: General, Everah Products, Announcements — Administrator @ 12:40 pm
After much deliberation and anticipation, Everah Media has made a few changes. Here is a brief outline:
- We are adding web hosting to our service offering.
- Allow us to expand our services and increase our ability to help our customers.
- Give us the opportunity to be more closely involved in the administration of hosted accounts.
- Will permit us to utilize technologies that customers are asking for.
- Maximize our costs and expenses.
- We are beginning a few more Everah Media Projects.
In addition to our current offering of ZOOM and AnswerMan, we are in the middle of developing Everah eCountant, an online billing, customer, vendor, invoice and payment processing application. It will be written entirely in PHP5 with a MySQL 5.1 backbone. We are also contemplating development of a sporting league management application. More information on this will be available if and when we decide to move forward with it. - We are going to be changing our name from Everah Media Company to Everah Media Services Company.
This is being done so our business likeness may be better associated with the growing array of services we offer.
We hope we are reacting properly to the requests and suggestions of clients, partners and suppliers. It is our intent to make doing business with Everah Media Services Company as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
